THEMIS and Substorms
NASA's THEMIS mission, launched in February 2007, comprises 5 identically-instrumented spacecraft and an array of ground magnetometers and all-sky cameras that cover Canada and the northern United States. The primary objectives of the mission are to pinpoint when and where substorms begin and how they develop thereafter. In this interactive talk, the audience is invited to participate in the analysis of a well-known substorm that occurred on February 26, 2008, identifying areas of agreement and disagreement.
