New Horizons Mission System Engineering Report
NASA’s New Horizons mission successfully accomplished the first flyby of the Pluto system on July 14, 2015, and of Arrokoth (2014MU69) on January 1, 2019. This presentation will describe key characteristics and capabilities of the New Horizons spacecraft and instruments, as well as some of the results from the flybys of these distant worlds. The presentation wraps up with a summary of potential opportunities for the mission in the future.
Chris Hersman is a member of the Principal Professional Staff at the Johns Hopkins University/Applied Physics Laboratory, and has served in key roles on the New Horizons project since the proposal to NASA in early 2001. Mr. Hersman is currently the New Horizons Mission Systems Engineer.
